How AGC of Missouri Saved 28.3% of Staff Time with AI

October 1, 2024 · GCM · 5 min read

AGC of Missouri represents commercial construction professionals across the state, and its lean staff handle a heavy, varied workload. The association brought in GCM to find where AI could genuinely speed up the work the team was already doing. On the tasks where they applied it, staff saved an average of 28.3% of their time.

The Challenge

AGC of Missouri wanted to streamline internal operations and give staff practical AI workflows they could put to use right away. The priority was real, day-to-day efficiency across communication, content, and member-facing work, with tools simple enough for the whole team to pick up quickly.

What GCM Did

GCM started with a collaborative discovery process to find the highest-impact opportunities inside the team's existing workflows, then built hands-on training around them. The whole program was designed specifically for association professionals, so the tools and examples mapped directly to AGC of Missouri's communication, engagement, and operational needs.

The Results

On the tasks where staff used AI, the team reported an average 28.3% time savings. Half the team saved at least 21 to 40% of their time, and some reported saving more than 40%.

Throughput rose alongside it. Participants reported a 13.3% average increase in task completion, with one respondent completing over 40% more work. Others said their volume held steady but the work simply got easier and faster to execute.

AI became a daily assistant across a wide range of work:

A good gut check on how embedded it became: when asked how much longer their work would take without AI, half the team estimated 11 to 25% more time, and one staffer put it at over 50%.

The power and usefulness of AI is impactful. Even older Baby Boomer types like me recognize the benefits.

AGC of Missouri's experience shows that even focused, internal AI adoption can pay off fast, helping a small team do its work better, faster, and with more impact, and without anyone needing a technical background.
